Hello! My name is Leslie Jowers and I am so excited to be joining the Scarlet Hope team and to offer another hand to the mission God has for us!

I attended and graduated from Furman University and met my husband while volunteering with the church I had originally grown up going to. We got married June of 2006. In 2014 we had the best little guy born into our life!

For years my husband and I have felt called to another area and ministry, a place to further our education and focus on those who may have little earthly possessions but need only Christ.

In 2009, my husband and I had the opportunity to go on a yearlong missions adventure. Our final month was spent in Thailand to work with sex-trafficking victims. During our stay in Thailand we witnessed exploitation, slavery, and a very real need for the love of God. We worked to give these women, boys, and girls other opportunities to have the skills to leave the prostitution and slavery they were in. I cried out for the women, girls and boys, and also for the men and women who paid for their services.

Years later when we decided to move to Louisville, KY I found the opportunity to love and help exploited women locally. God is full of surprises and providence! When applying for the position, I thought, “Perhaps someone is better or more qualified to do this work.” And I wasn’t sure that I would be the fit. The enemy is always trying to plant doubt in the callings God has given us.

I’m still learning the ropes here at Scarlet Hope, but I will be working as the Operations Manager: managing all financial stewardship and reporting, HR and staff related job duties, keeping the facility a safe and functioning place, and helping our volunteers be placed in their niche of the ministry.

Join me in praying that God will continue to grow Scarlet Hope deeper and deeper into our community and that many women find the comfort and care of God through us.
