Driving to M’s I was well aware of that little voice in my head. Not my conscience but that knowing voice of my mom that I think we all battle!  I was nervous to be going to an unknown part of town by myself and could just hear my mom saying “keep your doors locked,” “don’t talk/text on your cell phone and cause yourself to be distracted,” “don’t roll your windows down or open your car door for anyone -even a puppy!” Helpful information (thanks mom!) but I knew I was being COMPLETELY ridiculous!  When I pulled up to her house and saw her humble shed in the back all decorated to make it as pleasant and homey as a shed can look I knew I had arrived at M’s.She was a little less talkative than usual on our way to Bible Study, the night before on the phone she told me that she was nervous but really excited at the same time about meeting the rest of the team and making new friends.  I realized we were both nervous for different reasons.  Maybe somewhere in her past someone told her to “stay away from church folk.”M’s Birthday is Monday so Julie got her flowers and a card from the team -M was so grateful.  During Bible Study we were flipping around in scripture between the Old and New Testament.  M had her “club Bible,” a pocket sized New Testament plus Psalms and Proverbs that she sometimes reads when she’s getting ready in the dressing room at club 2. Rachelle gave M a complete Bible, you could tell she was so touched to have it.At Bible Study M talked about how for three years of her life she was involved in a church and had a relationship with the Lord.  She said this was a time in her life when she felt the peace of God in her life. M said she let go of that way of life like she let go of our team member a year ago who approached her in the club and even called her to invite her to church.  M wasn’t ready to let God in then -but a seed was planted and she‘s been starving for Him ever since. On our way out M was stopped by Julie and Rachel.  Rachel works for a home healthcare agency.  Sunday at church M told Julie and I that she’d like to sit with the elderly and immediately knew we had a resource for that in Rachel.  M was overwhelmed.  Julie and I told her that we’d help her to get ready for an interview with Rachel!Driving back to M’s house she told me she was thrilled to have another Bible.  She said that she has moved around so much in her life and at some point lost her Bible that she had highlighted, made notes and underlined favorite scriptures in.  I could feel my throat closing up and tears filling my eyes as I thought about how painful it would be to lose the Bible my parents gave me and that I highlight, make notes and underline my favorite scriptures in.M thanked me for everything; picking her up, dropping her off, the flowers and card, she said she was happy that we laughed at her jokes and stories, she thanked me for her new Bible that she’s so excited to dig into, she even told me that she was thrilled about the bowl full of sweets that I handed her at the end of Bible Study, M’s got a sweet tooth!  She’s so grateful, and I could tell, overwhelmed for everything Scarlet Hope has done for her.  She’s excited to meet and build friendships with the team.Pray for M, she’s a tough cookie but she’s asked that we pray for strength for her and the battles she’s fighting.  She’s got an ex who I know she thinks about and wants to contact, it’s hard to break those ties with people from our pasts.  Pray also that she would again receive that peace that she once knew in God.  I can see that she craves it.Kassie

When I pulled up to her house and saw her humble shed in the back all decorated to make it as pleasant and homey as a shed can look I knew I had arrived at M’s.

She was a little less talkative than usual on our way to Bible Study, the night before on the phone she told me that she was nervous but really excited at the same time about meeting the rest of the team and making new friends.  I realized we were both nervous for different reasons.  Maybe somewhere in her past someone told her to “stay away from church folk.”

M’s Birthday is Monday so Julie got her flowers and a card from the team -M was so grateful.  During Bible Study we were flipping around in scripture between the Old and New Testament.  M had her “club Bible,” a pocket sized New Testament plus Psalms and Proverbs that she sometimes reads when she’s getting ready in the dressing room at club 2. Rachelle gave M a complete Bible, you could tell she was so touched to have it.

At Bible Study M talked about how for three years of her life she was involved in a church and had a relationship with the Lord.

Julie and I told her that we’d help her to get ready for an interview with Rachel!

Driving back to M’s house she told me she was thrilled to have another Bible. Â She said that she has moved around so much in her life and at some point lost her Bible that she had highlighted, made notes and underlined favorite scriptures in. Â I could feel my throat closing up and tears filling my eyes as I thought about how painful it would be to lose the Bible my parents gave me and that I highlight, make notes and underline my favorite scriptures in.

M thanked me for everything; picking her up, dropping her off, the flowers and card, she said she was happy that we laughed at her jokes and stories, she thanked me for her new Bible that she’s so excited to dig into, she even told me that she was thrilled about the bowl full of sweets that I handed her at the end of Bible Study, M’s got a sweet tooth!  She’s so grateful, and I could tell, overwhelmed for everything Scarlet Hope has done for her.  She’s excited to meet and build friendships with the team.

Pray for M, she’s a tough cookie but she’s asked that we pray for strength for her and the battles she’s fighting.  She’s got an ex who I know she thinks about and wants to contact, it’s hard to break those ties with people from our pasts.  Pray also that she would again receive that peace that she once knew in God.  I can see that she craves it.
