I love Scarlet Hope for so many reasons….and each one has a name!
I was on assignment a short time ago, caring for my 96-year-old friend, when I received a call from one of our Scarlet Hope ladies, MC. She called to discuss some difficult things she needed to talk through.
I invited MC over so we could discuss her concerns, resolve the issues we could, pray for freedom and releases, and fellowship. She made her way over in very short order.
MC loves coffee, so I made her a cup. She curled up on the floor, by the couch I was sitting on, and faced the great outdoors.
She began to share from her heavy heart. As we talked openly, I found myself reaching for my Bible—the Source of all truth! We had briefly discussed the well-known man given so many trials to deal with, Job.
I began to read from Job 38, instructing that for 37 chapters all the characters had been chatting on about all sorts of things. But in Chapter 38 I read, “Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind: ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant words? Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.’…”
MC’s response was one of astonishment! “Did God really say that?” She had never read the latter part of that Book. And as we went on for the next few moments, wondering what it would feel like to be asked questions like that by God, we realized the eternal enormity of God and the smallness of man! We confessed we were NOT around when He laid the foundations of the earth! Nor did we have anything to do with giving the horse his strength! Nice wake-up call!
With each chapter He became bigger and bigger, and we found our rightful places, under His Supremacy and celebrating His awesomeness. All of creation was doing what it was told!
Wind, come in at five miles per hour from the northwest. And it is so! Frog, jump! And he does! Stones crying out! Such order and obedience, under the Authority of the Creator! All but the crown jewel of creation…mankind! Free to obey. Free to disobey.
MC is a deep thinker. She looked through the glass door to a majestic oak, and simply remarked, “So that tree is more obedient than I am, right? He says for it to stand, and it does. And it brings Him glory in the process.”
She won the Student of the Hour award that day! Simple, yet profound. No tree is going to outperform her!
