OUR STORY

Sharing the hope & love of Jesus with exploited & trafficked women in Ohio…
In 2009, two volunteers from Louisville, KY moved to Cincinnati to plant a church, and they wanted to bring the ministry of Scarlet Hope with them. These two women began serving in one local strip club in Greater Cincinnati, each week bringing in a home-cooked meal. God was at work, and volunteers began to join the team, and they faithfully served Greater Cincinnati for many years.

In 2022, we expanded our ministry to have a greater impact in Ohio. The adult entertainment industry is largely moving online, and Ohio is no exception. We’ve identified over 15,000 potential victims of exploitation and trafficking online in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus. That’s why we are focusing our efforts on reaching women online through our text outreach software and connecting them to local resources in cities that are closest to them. Our prayer is that God will build a network of hope within Ohio to reach all women in the adult entertainment industry with the hope of the gospel that they may find freedom in Christ.

Outreach

Strip Club Outreach

Every Thursday night, we bring gifts & treats into local strip clubs in Columbus to build relationships and share the gospel with the people we encounter. It takes a village to carry out this weekly Outreach! Our Outreach Team goes into the clubs, our Defenders Team are men who drive and stay outside of the clubs to provide extra security and engage the bouncers in gospel conversations, our Prayer Team stays behind to pray during Outreach, and we have a team of volunteers who provide the gifts/meals we take into the clubs. If God is calling you, we would love to talk to you more about how you could serve.

Text Outreach

Text Outreach is our newest initiative in Ohio. Using technology that pulls phone numbers from sex-for-sale ads online, we are able to reach hundreds of potential victims of exploitation online with a message of hope. We are building a team of Digital Missionaries who will engage victims via text message on Thursday afternoons and connect them to resources as needed.

Community

First, we GO to women wherever they are. Then we invite them IN to experience gospel-centered community. In this community, not only do we teach the love of Christ, but we show the love of Christ through authentic, no-strings-attached relationships. We help meet their basic physical needs by offering tangible resources that meet the physical needs that they have.  More importantly, we meet spiritual needs by pointing them to Jesus,  praying with and for them, teaching them how to read the Bible, and showing them what love and friendship in Christ look like.

Discipleship

The third pillar of our model is Discipleship, and this will look different for every woman we serve. Some women may come to know Christ the first time we meet them, and others may take years to trust us and be open to the gospel. As women from the adult entertainment industry come to salvation in Christ, we invite them to participate in weekly bible studies, connect them to a local church, and continue holistic, client-led case management. Our goal as we disciple women is to give them the opportunity to experience the life-changing love and grace of Jesus, increase their emotional, physical, educational, spiritual, and financial stability, and gain the life and job skills training necessary to function and retain meaningful employment.

God does miraculous things through prayer, so we invite you to make it a habit to pray for the women we serve; so that they would put their hope in Christ and be set free from the darkness that surrounds them.

For Churches

At Scarlet Hope, we believe the Church is the answer because Jesus is the answer. Our ministry is merely a bridge to mobilize the Church to go to exploited women wherever they are and connect them back to the Local Church to receive ongoing care and discipleship. Some churches feel at a loss on how to best respond to the crisis of exploitation and trafficking, so that’s why we developed an online course to equip churches to reach, serve, and share the hope and love of Jesus with women in the adult entertainment industry.

Meet Our Ohio Area Director

Bekah Delk

A Wisconsin native and midwesterner by heart, the Lord gave Bekah a heart for serving women who have endured hardships, sexual exploitation, and trafficking in 2015 when she saw a red-light district firsthand. The summer before her senior year of high school, Bekah jumped on a plane with her dad and a local church for a short-term mission trip in Costa Rica.  Originally, she had gone with the intent of serving children at an orphanage, but during a late-night restaurant run, the Lord opened Bekah’s eyes to another population she would be called to serve. 

Bekah found Scarlet Hope online in 2017 and interned with the organization for a summer during college. After returning from her internship, the Lord continued to direct her path toward forming relationships and walking alongside women in hard situations. After graduating, she moved to Columbus and worked for 3.5 years at Freedom a la Cart, a social enterprise working with survivors of sex trafficking transitioning into sustainable employment. 

Throughout her journey, God has continuously and lovingly shown her the true freedom that comes from the message of the Gospel and how true liberty can only be found in Christ. Bekah knows she can walk boldly into the darkness, being reminded by scripture that the Lord is near to those who call on Him (Psalm 145:18) and that we don’t need to be afraid, for our Father is pleased in giving us His Kingdom. (Luke 12:32).
