Episode 3: Expanding the Reach of Scarlet Hope

The Journey from One Club to a Nationwide Movement

In today’s episode, our third in this incredible series, we’re excited to explore the humble beginnings of Scarlet Hope and its expansion to a movement that now reaches across multiple cities. Reflecting back to where it all began, we’re astounded by the growth and impact we’ve witnessed.

The Early Days: A Leap of Faith

Our journey started with simple acts of obedience – a friend and I visiting one club to serve. Little did we know, this small step was the seed that would grow into a nationwide mission. Serving 30 women each week, we quickly realized the immense need that existed beyond the walls of that single club.

Easter Weekend: A Turning Point

A pivotal moment came during an Easter weekend. Armed with nothing but White Castles and hearts full of love, we took to the streets of downtown Louisville. It was then we encountered a woman, a manager of three strip clubs, who opened doors for us to expand our outreach. Almost overnight, we went from serving one club to four.

Growing Beyond Louisville

By 2010, our reach had expanded to 21 clubs, and by 2011, all 27 clubs in the area. This rapid expansion was a testament to God’s guidance and the power of sharing His love through simple acts like serving meals.

Mobilizing Volunteers: The Power of Community

The question arose – how could we possibly cater to the growing demand? The answer was in the enthusiastic support from our community. From our church providing kitchens to a woman volunteering to cook for hundreds, we saw God’s hand in bringing people together for this cause. Each meal served became an opportunity for a gospel conversation, a chance to connect and show God’s love.

Being ‘Church Ladies’: Redefining Perceptions

An interesting development was our nickname in the clubs – ‘Church Ladies’. Initially, this term had different connotations, but over time, it became synonymous with safety, acceptance, and love. It’s incredible to see how God has used our presence to change perceptions and break down barriers.

The Impact of Community and Church Involvement

Our mission goes beyond the clubs; it’s about integrating these brave women into the church community. We’ve seen firsthand the healing and transformation that occurs in a welcoming and accepting church environment. Our goal is to bridge the gap, connecting women to a community where they can grow and thrive in Christ.

Looking Ahead: Expanding Our Reach

As we look to the future, we’re excited about the possibilities. Each city Scarlet Hope has expanded to was led by God’s calling. The organic growth of our ministry is a clear indicator of His plans for us to reach and impact more lives.
