Paul speaks exhaustively on the law and works. When I say exhaustively, I mean I am exhausted when I read his works on, well, works. It’s just a lot of work!
When I’m on the Expressway in the morning and it is still dark, the headlights signal the march off to work as countless numbers of us head to our workplace. We are like drones, mindless creatures, performing the same act as the one next to us as we do the drone march, to our jobs.
We gulp our morning coffee or green tea to stimulate what we need to supersede yesterday. My 11-year-old grandson recently learned the magic of java when he said to me, “Grandma! I have genius ideas after just a few sips!”- him and the rest of us, or so we think. Even if words of affirmation are not your love language, you will beam when praised on your work. Whether we realize it or not, this is one reason why we do the drone march to our employment each day. We are striving so very hard for something, and it isn’t just a dollar.
We must be on guard of this in our ministries. I taught my Sunday School kids that we all have a ministry. Each woman we encounter at Scarlet Hope deserves purity of spirit, whether it be through your ministry on the prayer team, cooking food, going out on outreach, donating…. It must all be done from a place of purity. If it isn’t done from the posture of Colossians 3:23 then we are on a dangerous slippery slope of attempting to work our own justification- something Jesus already did.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Colossians 3:23
