Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of [the Philistines]. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for nothing can hinder the LORD from saving by many or by few.” 1 Samuel 14:6 (emphasis added)
In the past 2½ years, our numbers have mirrored the latter half of the verse.
- $0 in financial support from the churches in the city
- 0 fundraisers organized
- 0 volunteers personally recruited
- 0 job matches completed
- 0 housing options secured
- 0 rehab connections made
Don’t get me wrong—I have given my best effort to have those figures be nonzero numbers—but God was not interested in meeting my expectations. Despite those figures, the LORD has been pleased to work for us! He has provided money for the work, people passionate about club outreach, and just what the girls need. We have had countless spiritual conversations with at least 200 souls and have seen miraculous spiritual headway made in their hearts, not to mention the three women whom God has delivered out the darkness, whom we are discipling.
Those numbers will inevitably change as our new ministry grows, but I’ve learned that the LORD’s purpose to save is unrestrainable.
