It was a perfect spring day for heading out into the countryside. As we made our way up the winding driveway, not quite sure of what we’d see at the end, we arrived at our destination to a perfect cozy cabin perched atop a hill. There was a buzz in the air, not from bees, but from the excitement and curiosity of our Club Zero group as we began to settle in and unpack.
The setting was serene, perfect for a weekend getaway. This is just what we needed. Over the course of the weekend, we enjoyed good food, sweet fellowship, and powerful teaching times. Our time at the cabin was intentional for a reason: a retreat from the busyness of life and a time to reflect on Christ and our lives in Him.
The teaching time was incredibly impactful. Our speaker, a licensed counselor, carefully guided the group in surveying how each of our stories fit into God’s greater story. The ladies learned that each of their stories has importance and purpose and Jesus seeks to redeem every part of it, even the traumatic and painful parts. While the material was heavy, it was so good to be reminded of the hope we have in Christ. Our speaker intentionally brought out that Christ himself has borne every wound imaginable and is our sympathetic high priest (Hebrews 4:14-16). And while we don’t always understand why certain things happen, He is there at every step, guiding His children through the pain into paths of healing and restoration.
The fellowship enjoyed during this retreat is something I will never forget and having the opportunity to love and serve my sisters in Christ is invaluable. After dinner, we all had a chance to relax and enjoy each other’s company. Some sisters sat and talked amongst themselves, others bundled up and made s’mores by the fire, and others wrote impromptu praise songs to our King.
How marvelous it is to be in the body of Christ! The unity and provision of God to bring us all together for this very special weekend was an absolute treasure. He is so good to us!
