My first time going on outreach with Scarlet Hope was on January 15th. I had the opportunity to attend two clubs that night with my boss and another Scarlet Hope volunteer. When we walked into the first club, God immediately brought my attention to a specific dancer, who we will call Dancer D. We ended up having an interesting conversation with Dancer D by the end of the night.
If I told you that Dancer D surrendered her life to Christ that night I would be lying. D has had a relationship with the ministry for a while now and different volunteers have had various opportunities to share the gospel with her. Unfortunately, D isn’t ready to surrender her life to Christ…. yet. And that’s OK. Because I know and D knows that every single Thursday someone from Scarlet Hope will walk through the doors of her place of employment with a home cooked meal and some really really GOOD NEWS! And our prayer and our hope is that one day God will grab a hold of D’s heart.
In 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 Paul writes, “My job was to plant the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but God, not we, who made it grow. The ones who do the planting or watering aren’t important because He is the one who makes the seed grow.” So that means we don’t give up. God desires for all to be saved and we hold on to that promise for Dancer D and the hundreds other women in the industry.
Our goal at Scarlet Hope is not to coerce the women out of the clubs. We will allow the Holy Spirit to do the convicting. We are there to be faithful in what God has called His people to do: to love.
