It didn’t take long after serving dinner in the clubs that we realized we needed something else. We were meeting dozens of women each week that wanted to know more about God and his Word. They were asking for prayer. They were longing for community. That’s when God led us to begin Club Zero, our weekly bible study for the women of Scarlet Hope.
While the time, location, and format has changed over the years, the vision has remained the same: Club Zero is a safe place for women to gather to have sweet fellowship, ask questions, study the Word of God, and grow in their relationship with Christ. Every Thursday evening we have anywhere from 10 to 30 women and their children join us for Club Zero. We eat dinner together and share life together. Some of the women who come have been out of the industry for more than thirty years, some will leave Club Zero to go to work. Our goal is not to set a bunch of rules and restrictions on this gathering, but to welcome anyone and everyone to hear the Good News of the gospel.
And what does Club Zero mean to the women who attend? Here are some responses they had to the question, “What does Club Zero mean to you?”
Encouragement.
It’s open arms and open hearts.
It’s a safe place for women to come and learn who Jesus is and who they are in Christ. It encourages and teaches women to continue to seek Him on their own as well.
Christ. Strength.
Empowerment.
Sharing the Word.
Hope and Peace.
Family.
