Our Scarlet Hope Family continues to grow – we continue to add volunteers and even staff members to our team. In the past few weeks, our small little support group for the women who have left the sex industry… had 6 x dancers but has now 15. We have two new believers in Christ, one newly baptized sister and numerous other women asking to find out more about Jesus. It reminds me of when God told his disciples to throw the net over the side of their boat and God fills that net with fish. God is creating a revival right here in the dark parts of our city. He is calling out his children and growing our little family. Have you ever looked around the room and been amazed at what God is doing? God has amazed me so much here in this new year.. that often my only expression is tears. Only last night, I looked around and saw women who were once living in darkness –now living in the light. I’m not just talking about the women leaving the sex industry.. though I tell you the truth… it blows my mind.. to think of where some of the women were just a few weeks before and now to see them laughing around a dinner table. It warms my heart. I can look at each them and say “redeemed… redeemed.” Each one has been set free from the law of sin and death and given abundant life in Christ. Each one has been released from sin and shame and given purity and confidence before his almighty throne. But let’s not forget, that we… who are serving in ministry, that have walked with Christ a little longer.. can say the same words. We have once walked in darkness, been enemies of God, been condemned in our sin.. we have been redeemed and adopted into the family of God. This is my family. A family consisting of prostitutes, addicts, liars, adulterers – a family of sinners who can stand together equally in need of a Savior. A family from all colors and race, a family from all different socio-economic and social backgrounds. A family created by the cross. A family created by God. It’s a beautiful thing.
