Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us
A few of us in Scarlet Hope were laughing the other day thinking of how we ask God for a drink of water and he gives an ocean. Our asking for a resource center for Scarlet was so tiny compared to what God wanted to give us. We even have this documented in the blog.
It’s humorous looking back and how we pleaded to God to give us this small house. We would pray over it and look at it and hope that God would give us this 900 sq ft house for $50,000 or less. The house was falling apart and squatters lived in it for a time.. but we prayed none the less. It looked like we were going to get it, but then everything kept falling through.
We had no idea what God had in store. I imagine he might have rolled his eyes and thought “c’mon daughters, do you not know who I am? Why are you asking me for crumbs when I am the bread of life? Why are you asking for pennies when I hold all the riches in my hands?” I am pretty sure he was smiling, thinking just wait.. just wait til you see what I do.
God said no to the little house because he had something way better. He blew our minds with his plans. Not only did we receive a 11.000 square foot house, but we received it for free. FOR FREE – a home where ministry has happened for over 100 years. A home where there is room for all we need and more. A home that feels like a home.
I mean, this one room in the new house is bigger than the house we asked for. God is amazing.
I feel almost foolish for asking so small, but thankful because God showed us that these things are only possible through Him. He took us beyond our means. There is no way we could have received this on our own. We are so thankful and in awe of the God we serve. And we are excited to see what he does in the ministry of Scarlet Hope. He is so good and we are so humbled by this gift. But most importantly, reminded of how much he loves the women in the strip clubs and how he longs for them to know Him and to provide for them a home.
There is still so much to be done with getting the house ready for ministry, but God has already provided people and groups to volunteer and work to get this house up and running. We are confident that he will provide the resources to finance the ministry and the resources to truly help these women. He is so faithful and will do immeasurably MORE than we could ever ask.
