It's so neat to watch the Holy Spirit work. But it is an entirely different emotion when you physically feel the Holy Spirit work. This past Thursday night in the back kitchen of a strip club, the Holy Spirit was present. You see the GM of our Club 11 normally just waved hi as we came in the club, but this week it was different.
The previous week we had received a call from the owner of Club 11. He asked if our team would go and pray over a lady he knew that was addicted to crack and about to lose everything. Being completely humbled by the fact he even called on us, we excitedly went to meet this women that Thursday night. We pulled up to a bar and there she was sitting outside. Three of our team members started talking with her and began a good conversation about what's going on in her life. TR, the young lady, with tears rolling down her face admitted she desperately needs help. We spoke of Jesus and His saving Grace and how much he loves her and longs for her to be in a relationship with Him. We gave her a book called Mercy from addiction and told her that we'd love to bring her to our church service on Sunday. We left right after we gathered around her with the owner from Club 11 and prayed for redemption and healing in her life.
So this past Thursday night when we walked into Club 11 the GM that typically just waved hi, came over and sat down next to our table with food. He started by saying “I can't thank you ladies enough for going and praying over TR last week..” You see TR was the GM's girlfriend for 10 years until her addiction became so bad she left for the streets.
He told us he normally doesn't really want to talk with us much, but always appreciates us coming in…but the fact that we took the time to go and pray over this women and offer help to her spoke beyond volumes to him about Jesus.
A little while later we were talking in the kitchen of the club. He shared his life experiences, how he grew up, how his parents are southern baptist and how he does believe there is a God. For about an hour he just expressed everything he had been feeling about us, Christians and God. During our conversation the Holy Spirit was speaking through me so that I could share the gospel of Christ in the midst of his story and his concerns.
After sharing about the death and resurrection of Christ with him he said “look at my arms, I have goosebumps all over my whole body” tears welled up in my eyes and goosebumps filled my arms and legs… because I knew that God was there in the midst of this extreme darkness.
The GM then asked “can you please pray for me, pray that God will give me direction and to leave this industry after 25 years of being tied down to it? I just want to be free” I could not have heard a better sentence!
God does desire freedom for not only these ladies, but these men! He loves them so much too and we are excited that he desires for God to change the plan of his life. Pray for the GM of Club 11. It's going to be a long long road. He's never been trained in any other area in his life.
