I was so excited for the opportunity to be in one of the hair and make-up clubs  I loved it!  A new way God is allowing us to join Him.
I wouldn’t say we were greeted very warmly…  but they totally warmed up! A dancer  ran up to us ecstatic and excited that she’s never stripping again!
I offered cookies, handed out makeup, and crimped some hair… Â ended up talking for a girl names PM.. Â she called us f-ing whores when we got there but within an hour we were talking about kids and sharing rooms, and she told me her story. Â She is 22 and has 7 children, including one on the way. Â She in 4 months pregnant and never stopped smoking the entire time we were there. Â Her oldest is 6! Â They all share a two bedroom place, which she works at taco bell and the club. Â Her husband has been in and out of jail and she lies to him and tells him she is a waitress there so he won’t beet her. Â One time he tried and she ended up roughing him up. Â She is accustomed to constant fights and name calling – I have actually never heard such language. Â She and I related on kids and make-up.. Â and finally she said she would love to quit, and stop lying to her husband, but that the friend she’s had the longest that really cares for her works as a manager at the club. Â She has several health issues… Â I was able to express to her why we do this when she asked and she thought that was cool. Â I could tell several times throughout our conversation she was thinking, thinking, thinking and that she had probably never had that type of conversation before and she wasn’t sure how to.
I am hoping that the look in her eyes of wondering at why someone would do this goes into her heart and maybe she will search for God. Â A God that hears her story and loves her anyways, a God that can take away her need to have many children and show her unconditional love in a healthy way so she feels that void… Â So glad we clicked and I hope to listen to her again! Â And I was happy to hear that she starts school this month.
Another girl I talked to for quite a while was DG Â She is a mother of a 2 year old, newly single working as a CNA nurse and driving from Ohio to dance. Â She lies to her entire family b/c this isn’t the way she was raised. Â She cannot make ends meet with nursing, and is going to school to become an RN. Â Conversation with her was easy! Â i was able to crimp her hair, get her some fake eyelashes to play with, joke around, and encourage her in her efforts to continue school and do what’s best for her 2 year old girl.. Â She had only been dancing for 3 weeks.
My love for Christ and others is growing and I want it to be abundant so that it spills over into these empty vessels 🙂
