Club 3
May 6th 2010
So many relationships were built and deepened this evening. What a wonderful God we serve! I stood back and watched as the ladies on our team brushed hair, applied make-up, and painted nails….I was humbled to serve with such a beautiful group of talented ladies and so thankful the God provided us the opportunity to serve such precious women. At our Bible study before leaving to serve, we talked about our “false selves.” The people that we pretend to be, the personality that we hide behind, the characteristics of ourselves that keep us from being closer to God. Â Sometimes we mimic who we think others expect us to be, draw away in isolation for fear of being rejected, use sarcasm to hide our real feelings……..and in reality we are sometimes no different than giving ourselves. Â My prayer this week is for our team. Our wonderful God chosen team – for those who serve in every part of it. Please help us pray that we are becoming completely transparent with one another and can take that realness into the clubs. Our dancers have been hurt so much by people who pretend to be something that they are not – please pray that we do not use the word Christian lightly, but that we each realize the weight of that name. Our Savior’s Name. ~ SarahDebbie’s thoughts:Last night was awesome, B asked for my # and text me her number. R and I text each other after I got home last night. We are getting together next week. At the club R and I were talking about her bruises she had received after getting into a dispute with an ex ‘s girlfriend. The love and approval these young ladies are craving, it is heart breaking. Another woman was talking about having five sons and said God did not give her a daughter, because she could not have dealt with her dancing. Another woman suggested we go into nursing homes and do the hair and make-up, she said they would love it as I was painting her nails:)Kate’s thoughts:Last night was so jam-packed with God. Wow! J was a new face. She is so beautiful and smart. She is definitely searching and she seemed to be interested in going to church. Awesome! I started on L, but had to stop so she could go on stage. I think she’s been getting in trouble for making time with us a priority. I have become quite close to L. She would rather be in the dressing room with us then out in the rest of the club. Awesome! The last girl I worked on was JJ. She would never let me touch her hair before. She wasn’t sure she wanted me to do her hair. She had gotten pretty hot and her hair was pretty sweaty, but I told her it didn’t matter. She works as a nurse, but times got tough and she needed to make some extra money. She lost her mom not too long ago and you could tell it still hurt. I ended up doing an up do on her since her hair was wet. It didn’t take very long, but God can plant seeds in seconds. She asked why we did this. The question I used to dread. I never felt like I had the right answer. She asked and someone answered, but for once I felt like God gave me the words to say. I’m sure my answer won’t be the same every time, but I pray that God will lead me. Awesome! What an awesome God we serve!Valerie’s thoughts:I had a wonderful night last night in club 3!
