Scarlet Hope – Journal #77

The same with Rahab, the Jericho harlot.  Wasn’t her action in hiding God’s spies and helping them escape – that seamless unity of believing and doing – what counted with God?  The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse.  Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse.  James 2:25:26 (The Msg)

Putting our faith into action is a constant growing thing.   Each week we go into the clubs in our community completely relying on the Lord to provide our meals, our teams, the way.   It’s teaching each of us what it means to walk as Jesus walked and to live out a faith that is bold and true.    Meeting our friends in the clubs brings us to a harsh reality inside ourselves that reminds us we are just reliant upon God’s grace in this life as any one of these dancers.

This report is a little late: Myself (Rachelle) and two of our board leaders have been doing some training in California and Vegas.   We have been blessed to expand our knowledge of this industry and to see what other ministries like Scarlet Hope are doing.   Thank you for those who have been praying for this trip.  We’re excited to get back and continue our ministry in Louisville!

Last Thursday our teams went into Clubs 1,2,3, and 4.    However I thought I would just take time to highlight a few things:

*  J – DJ from Club 2 received a donation from a dancer/bartender to give to us.  We insisted she keep it but they WANTED us to have it.   We see acceptance, trust and love from those gestures.

*JO – Dancer from Club 3, we learned she is post-abortion…..JO found out she was pregnant and was afraid of what her boyfriend would say, so she took all her money she had made and took a taxi to an abortion clinic, after it was done she took a taxi, alone by herself home.  She’s told no one about this, but a member of our team.   Please pray for JO.   Our heart completely breaks for this situation.  May God go before us as we continue to Love her and show her Jesus.

*We met the owner in Club 4, who welcomed us and told us we can come back to his club any time we want.  He also told us the girls really really appreciated everything we did for them while we were there.   It was awesome to see the power of God in this club.   He is opening doors and keeping them wide open, because His arms are THAT WIDE!

*C – Former dancer from Club 1.   C still has not found another job.    Pray a door opens for her to be able to have an opportunity for a new job.  If you know of anyone that would be willing to hire her, she does have her HS diploma.

Scarlet Hope will be featured in a Southeast Article – Thursday – March 25th.   We are so blessed to have the opportunity to share the story of Scarlet Hope.  To check it out, go to:  www.southeastoutlook.com
